Welcome from the Coordinator

The Faculty of the Department of Aviation Science at Northwestern State University welcomes you to our homepage. Our department has been training collegiate aviators since 1970. Utilizing university owned aircraft, our pilot training program has reached national recognition in both employment and competition areas. Our modern flight operations building, coupled with our efficient dispatching procedures and instructor pilot staff, ensure that each training flight is a step in the learning process, with safety always in mind. Moving-map GPS units are installed in our complex aircraft. Traditional ground school classes are taught on campus and combined with flight simulator, computer lab, and multi-media technology. Our graduates fly with both regional and major airlines, corporate, military, state, and federal agencies. We are here to train and help you reach your goal of becoming a career pilot.
